Lately Mervin loves to wash the dishes. He came up to me one night when I’ve started with one of the duty that I hate most and said “Mommy, I want to wash those plates!” Of course I had stopped him ‘cos I was afraid that he might broke those China. But knowing that once he has decided to do that, it would be really hard to change his mind and I’ll end up having a long whining kid with tantrum later, I let him do the dishes. Yes, I’ve put on the apron for him so that he would wet his shirt, he got himself a wooden chair so that he can reach the sink and he started washing the dishes carefully without even scratching one China! Yup, a young child labor in training.
I thought he would have stopped and dislike the idea after one try, but he continue to request in doing this job for the next two consecutive nights. Next thing was Calvin also want to join in the fun, but he is rougher than the little brother and I worried more for him to break those dishes. I hope tonight they won’t be offering their help again.

Well, I think you should reward him with some cash. That might be good for kids to learn the value of money. Also a way to encourage them to participate in housework.
Well, I prefer to encourage him with hugs and kisses and assurance that he is a good boy.
Yeah I would use praises, hugs and kisses too
Thanks for dropping by Aunty J. Yupe, definitely hugs and kisses worth more than anything else. Will see how is Calvin doing with the puppy. Mom said Mer is already actively running around the house now.
