“Mommy, I want to have small chick as pet.”
That’s what Calvin told me last night after I discovered that he took out an egg from the fridge and wanted to put it under his bed so that it will hatch. He even tried to put it just outside in the dining table covered with a plastic bottle.
This time I’m clever, I didn’t say no straight away. As I know if I do that, I’ll get a rebellious respond from him. So, I started off by explaining to him how and what kind of eggs will hatch then I started to ask him some questions on how he is going to take care of the small chick, like what if it poo, ‘cos it doesn’t talk like us. Does the poo smelly? Would he want to keep it near him after it has poo-poo? Isn’t it lonely to be kept inside a box? And things like that.
He got some clever answers for that. At first he said he’ll keep it in a box with newspapers, so that he can throw away the newspapers after it has poo. And he’ll keep more than one chick so that it will not feel lonely. *LOL*
After that I asked him if he’ll understand what the small chick want? And if he will eat the chick when it has grown up? Terrible idea to him, huh?
Then I made a joke with him by using chick’s sound and communicate with him, we ended up laughing on my strange way of “talking”. But I’m glad that finally he settle down and didn’t ask to have chick as pet anymore. Thinking of how to communicate and listen to his request require lots of energy to me, but it is worth it.
Last night I’ve also tried not to use the spank to threaten my two boys especially when they were playing so rough. Instead I just separate them and tell them to stop. As for this morning, I walked out after not getting Calvin’s respond to change himself. Then he got so regretted in not listening and got upset when I said he’ll have to get change himself. Though later I still help him but at least I think he is learning that mommy won’t tolerate if he is not listening.
Yup, my two boys are still my so call diet pill that got me thinking of a better way to communicate with them and also at the same time the right way to discipline them, ‘cos by thinking itself already used up a lot of my energy *LOL*.
Other than what Calvin was asking about keeping small chick, he wanted to have dog and cat too. Mervin joined in the fun and said that he wanted to keep fish or turtle. This I answer them to wait till mommy’s house is ready, hopefully they got too occupy at that time and forget about their pet idea *wink*.

Not a bad idea to have a life science project with the boy? But have to tell him the whole process. Unless, you don’t want to turn a pet into your dinning table.
Yup, definitely need to explain to them so that they’ll keep pets that will be their good friends.
