Am now in Shenzhen, China, have been here since 1st May. It was a bit worrying to travel to Hong Kong with the swine flu alert. Once we touched down in Hong Kong, we straight took the Taxi up to the border. There wasn’t a lot of people wearing mask in the air-port. I gave my mask from Hanoi to little Mer to wear. but there were a westerner who kept on staring at him with a smirk smile. So Mer refuse to put it on.
On before we que for the immigration, we need to fill a declaration form stating if we have been to any other country over the past 7 days. There were more security personnel then normal days. Hong Kong has taken high precaution action to face this. On the news the next day, it has been reported that there is one passenger from Mexico who has contacted the swine flu and thus has been quarantine. Straight after that, anyone who has have close contact (withing 6 feet) of that person were ask to contact the local clinic or the government. Including those sat near to that passenger, the taxi driver and those stay in the same hotel with him. Within the next few hours of the news, quarantine and cleaning action has been carried out in that particular hotel that the passenger has stayed. Even those shop around the hotel also stop operating.
I think Hong Kong is well aware of the danger and has been taking all the right precaution and action. Even commercial wise, there are lots that showing the right actions to take in facing the problem. The people are being remind to be hygienic. I wonder if Malaysia government are taking all these precaution measure.
It just feel sad to know that with all these medical advances of human kind, we are still threaten by flu viruses. Just pray that the worst is over.
